Our Mission
Founded in 2017, it has always been our mission to help young Memphians see their potential and gain skills needed for school readiness. We work with students through our pre-k, tutoring, and enrichment programs to help bridge learning gaps so that students can have experience success in elementary and beyond. Our vision is for SMARTER Memphis students to experience a creative, STEM-based curriculum relative to the future of our workforce in America. According to a research article by Pew Research Center (2018), STEM occupations have grown 79% with an increase from 9.7 million to 17.3 million people with STEM occupations since 1990! It is projected that the forecast for STEM related jobs will remain stable. We want to expose children ages 3 and up to STEM related activities that can help them realize a passion or potential in STEM fields. As a nonprofit, we aim to provide a friendly and welcoming environment where volunteerism and community service are strongly encouraged. Parents engage in their children's education and families work together to support learners of SMARTER Memphis. Our teachers work in a professional environment that shares the belief that improved teacher practices has positive effects on student learning.
“The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it.”
